Progressive Business Practices:

Honoring the equally important and interdependent relations of our customers, our staff, and the health of the business itself.

Traditional Comfort Food With a Healthy Twist:

We’re not shy about admitting that our food is downright amazing. We offer traditional American comfort food with all the salty, sweet yumminess you love, but prepared in a health-conscious manner. We use trans-fat free oil for cooking and all our burgers are cholesterol free!

Environmentally Sustainable:

From using biodegradable to-go products, to buying locally and organically, to becoming a locally certified Green Business, we acknowledge that each and every person and business must strive to minimize or eliminate our impacts on the planet.

According to a recent study by the UN, 18 percent of global warming emissions come from raising livestock for meat. That’s 40 percent more than all the world’s cars, SUVs, airplanes, and other modes of fossil-based transportation, which combined account for 13 percent. Read More

Switching to vegetables one day per week cuts the equivalent of driving 1160 miles per year. Read More

By the very nature of offering a vegetarian menu, we estimate that our customers lessen their impact on climate change by the equivalent of nearly 500,000,000 miles per year of driving.

Socially Responsible:

As business owners we make decisions every day that affect others, and so we believe it is our obligation to run our company with the triple bottom line philosophy. Our commitment to using organics is not just health based for our customers, but is also part of our dedication to the workers who produce the food we purchase. We are proud to be anti-war, pro gay marriage, and in favor of raising the minimum wage. We know these are not traditional or even advisable statements for a business to make, but we also know that we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Saturn Cafe comes from a strong background of activism, art, and alternative communities. We are ambitious and creative individuals whose tattooed and non-traditional exteriors don’t necessarily fit the mold of typical American business-people. We are committed to creating a community that, like ourselves, reflects the diverse world that most of us actually live in.

We are committed to both creating a neighborhood space and being active participants in our community. Our Community Nights Program was designed to bring likeminded people together to help raise money and awareness for various local non-profits.

As Emma Goldman once said, “If I can’t dance, I don’t want to be part of your revolution”. It is our belief that joy is an essential ingredient to a successful progressive business to life. We purposefully create an atmosphere that encourages all who enter to celebrate in the food they eat and with the people they eat with.

Community Nights:

The Saturn Cafe is looking for local, non-profit organizations to participate in our Community Night fundraisers! We are passionate about great vegetarian food, progressive and fair-minded business practices, and supporting an energetic atmosphere that reflects a vibrant, diverse community. Community Nights are a mutually beneficial way for us to support local causes. The goal of these events is to not only raise support for your non-profit organization, but also to raise awareness of the organization to our customer base and the community at large.

The Community Night fundraisers are held at the Saturn Cafe on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. Once a date has been confirmed for your Community Night, you may start to distribute flyers to members of your organization, friends, family, and to the general public, advertising the event. Flyers will also be distributed to customers in the restaurant. On the day of the event, anyone who brings a copy of the flyer in to the restaurant will generate a donation in the amount of 10% of the cost of their bill. The more successful attendance to your Community Night, the more funds you can raise toward your cause.

If you are interested in participating in a Community Night with Saturn Cafe, please contact us, and we will send you a packet with more information and some useful tips to help you make the most of this opportunity!
